If the XBee is answering that message it means it is working fine because that message is a Modem Status API frame as you have mentioned.

Can you see that message at all the baud rates or only at a specific one? This point will allow us to find the baud rate at which the XBee is configured.

Yes. It works only at a baud rate of 9600 with AP=1 The strange thing we noticed is that Test/Query sometime returns the correct modem type and firmware no, but other time it doesn't.

When it works, we can do a modem configuration read and can see that the digi module changed to a Zigbe End Device API.

Also, when we try to change any parameters ( like PAN ID), it gives back the error showing

Getting modem type....OK
Programming modem...Lost communication with modem
Write Parameters...Failed

So it is kind of unpredictable behavior.

Any thoughts on how we can fix this up.

Hi,

If it is configured at 9600bps and AP=1 you should change the baud rate and the API mode to be used in Waspmote.

Could you try to change only the baud rate and API mode? Not PANID or any other parameter.
