Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble with my Waspmote and its WIFI Board. The problem is..I can't get nothing out of it.
I tried to run the example code 0 and other simple sketches without success, I only get some random characters from the Serial monitor (@ 38400 baud) and þ$$$$$$$$$ (@ 9600 baud, which I think it's the default setting in the Waspmote board).
Am I doing something wrong? Is it an hardware problem? I am running Windows Server 2008 32-bit.

Thanks in advance,

Francesco.

Hi Docet,

let's try a test:

- Place the module on your Gateway and open a serial terminal

- Send a three dollar simbols sequency ($$$) without carrier return nor end of line.

- You should receive the sequence CMD as response, if you don't there must be a hardware problem with your module, please try it and post here your results.

Regards.

I am having a similar problem. While I was successfully able to run the codes avaliable online for the WIFI modules, I have a collection of WIFI module that were not running the code accordingly and never were able to connect to my router (Linksys). I have replaced my xbee with the WIFI module on the gateway, I was successfully able to enter the CMD mode. While in the CMD mode I typed scan and the result is as follows:
<2.23> scan
<2.23>
SCAN:Found 0
Num SSID Ch RSSI Sec MAC Address Suites

While other WIFI modules were successful in finding the routers, as shown in the following:
<2.23> scan
<2.23>
SCAN:Found 2
Num SSID Ch RSSI Sec MAC Address Suites
1 MB_NEW 11 -32 WPA_Mix 98:fc:11:a0:28:f6 AES/TKIPM-TKIP 1104
0
2 MBLinksys 11 -83 WPA2PSK 00:1e:e5:9a:45:38 AESM-AES 7104 3

My question is am I doing something wrong or the WIFI modules are faulty?

Hi reddude,

it shouldn't be a configuration problem, but lets try to restore its default configuration in case something has been changed.

Once in the command mode enter the following instructions:

factory RESET

save

reboot

This should restore the factory configuration, save the changes and restart the module. After doing this try to repeat the scan and let us know the results.

Regards.

Hi reddude,

one question, you did the tests with the antenna placed on all your motes, didn't you?

If you have been able to find the routers with the other modules but not with this one probably will be owed to a hardware problem, please fulfill this form so we can start an RMA process.

Regards.

Hi reddude,

your modules are correctly configured. Could you please try changing the motes and antennas with those of the working modules to check that the failure is in the module?

Regards.

I have done that. I have also tried placing the modules on different gateway and try to enter the CMD mode. Nonetheless, received the same scan results.
