Hi, I have two xbee modules, one on a plate and another at the gateway and I can not communicate with the gateway board and send data, for example temperature, to the gateway in the PC, I've tried everything, I've read all the manuals, and no way, even install the x-ctu and found that both xbee had the same version, the same panid, the same channel and api enabled. Could you explain me what to do step by step?

Hi anamariaor,

could you please post the code you are using and what kind of XBee modules do you have?

Hello,

And have you tried the Waspmote Checklist?

Please, let us know in which step(s) you have trouble, or get weird messages. Also, be sure to have installed the latest API, IDE (from our website) and FTDI drivers.

Best regards

Hi anamariaor,

could you please repeat the tests with the Waspmote also connected to the USB and print the results you get at its serial port?

Regards.

That is the trouble, it appears nothing in the serial port, it receives nothing and the screen is permanently in while without letters or numbers

Hi anamariaor,

if you connect the Waspmote (not the Gateway) to the USB you are getting nothing?

That sounds strange, you should be viewing at least a series of strange characters in the port. Did you try using a different example which doesn't need wireless communication, such as the accelerometer or the sensor inputs?

On the other hand, which is the configuration of the XBee modules, are they set in the same ID, channel, baudrate, API mode...?

Regards.

If I connect the Waspmote (not the gateway) via USB to my computer screen are shown in a series of strange characters and the program, for example to get the battery level, it works, the problem is when I remove the usb Waspmote (when they had loaded with a program for temperature), led him across the table and connect the gateway to the computer. At this point the gateway does not receive anything, not characters or plot, the terminal screen is blank. I tried all the steps one by one of the guides that are in the Libelium page and does not work. I tested with more programs that come with the IDE (eg wasp_start_program_full_802 v1) and not get results. I would like to be told I have to do step by step to obtain the temperature of the gateway when the Waspmote is across the table, maybe I did not charge the appropriate program, or maybe not using Waspmote well, I do not know, since both have the same panid xbee, the same ID, same channel, the same baud rate, the same API mode, and I find that have the same version, which I have configured with the X-CTU. What do I have to do exactly to obtain the temperature through the gateway?

anamariaor,

Ok, it seems that you have tested many tips, let's try to get into the issue of your problem naming what you have done and what you do not.

About Waspmote:

  • You have connected Wasp by USB (also with battery and coin cell connected) and uploaded an example code without problems.
  • You are able to see readable messages by serial monitor, in case of Wasp_start_program_full_802_V1 you are able to see mac address, battery, temperature, etc. besides that non readable characters which are the communication between Waspmote and Xbee.

About gateway:
  • When you connect the gateway to USB with Xbee plugged, you see a red led blinking.
  • You also mention X-CTU tool so we assume that you are able to read bot Xbee parameters using X-CTU and you have checked that on both Xbees, network parameters (PANID, channel, etc) are the same. What happens if you swap Xbees?

besides that, please check this other tips:
  • Are you sending in broadcast mode? if not, you should write xbee MAC address with capital letters.
  • Try with Waspmote+Xbee1 connected in one USB and gataway+Xbee2 placed into another, and open both serial monitors at same time in order to see Waspmote is running and gateway is receiving at same time.

Moreover, this post can be useful for you.

Please, try this things to see if you are able to send a frame. We know that using Waspmote in the beginning can be a little difficult, but when you are familiar with a few things, it is quite easy.

Please do no hesitate and ask here all questions you have.

best regards.
