Hello Libelium,

I'm trying to install a few packages that allows meshlium to report data in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, but looks like the repositories isn't update because the version of debian is lenny; my question is:

Can I modify the sources.list into debian to access this packages in a newer version of this OS or what is the best practice for do this?

The packages that I need are:

- freetds-bin (with all dependencies)
- unixodbc (with all dependencies)
- tdsodbc (with all dependencies)

I'm following this tutorial
http://blog.marcingil.com/2009/11/linux-odbc-to-mssql/.

Thank you.

Hello libelium,

I'm working with Lorena in the problem above, really I know we can't use apt-get to install new packages, but I don´t know if we can use dpkg -i <package> to install. I already download all the packages we need so only remains installed in the system and considering that we have no backup system, we want to make sure that we will not corrupt Meshlium.

Additional Information,

The following is a list of all packages downloaded:

  • unixodbc_2.2.14p2-1_i386.deb
  • tdsodbc_0.82-7_i386.deb
  • odbcinst1debian2_2.2.14p2-1_i386.deb
  • libsybdb5_0.82-7_i386.deb
  • libltdl7_2.2.6b-2_i386.deb
  • freetds-common_0.82-7_all.deb
  • freetds-bin_0.82-7_i386.deb

In Meshlium the packages libltdl3 is already installed, if I install libltdl7 do we'd have any problem?, the same occurrs with odbcinst1debian1 (we need odbcinst1debian2).

Regards,

Jeison Hernández

Dear lorena0831, you can modify the sources.list file, but just to install some new packages, NEVER do system upgrade, a system upgrade will freeze your Meshlium and voids warranty.
