Hi
Is it possible to reprogram a waspmote without the li-ion battery connected? The battery I have doesn't seem to want to charge up via the USB connection ( the battery voltage is only 2.7v) and I'm getting this error when uploading to the waspmote without the battery.

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

Hi scud_za,

there is no problem in uploading a code without a battery. Regarding the error you are getting, which operating system are you using? Is your code getting uploaded anyway?

Regards.

Hi
I am using windows 7 64 bit and using the driver that was detected automatically when I connected the waspmote.

Also the code doesn't get uploaded to the mote. I'm trying to reprogram the waspmote without the battery connected, the red charging LED is on for some reason.

The waspmote was working with the XBEE802 sending_Receiving example for about an hour, I could see the "test message!" coming through on the gateway XBEE. I then modified the XBEE802 sending_Receiving example now I'm getting that error i pointed out earlier.

Hi scud_za,

could you please follow the steps on this checklist to upload an example again and let us know if you got it and in case you didn't what errors did you have?

Regards.

Hi I'm getting the same error

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

If i push the reset button nothing happens, none of the LEDs flash ( if this information helps )

Hi scud_za,

does it happen (I mean LEDs not blinking when reseting the mote) with only the USB wire connected powering the mote, without the battery?

If this is the case, it seems you have overwritten the bootloader, and we will need to start an RMA process fulfilling this form.

Regards.

How is it possible for me to have overwritten the bootloader? all I did was modify one of the example programs and upload it. That is very strange... btw i'm using the latest waspmote IDE

Hi scud_za,

it is very strange, since in the new IDE version the code is limited to protect the bootloader memory zone, and anyway a modified example shouldn't be long enough to overwrite it. Did you test the mote without the battery?

Regards.

The battery will not charge up, i think its dead. So I cannot test the waspmote with it being powered only by the battery, I'll try and get a new battery this weekend and test it.
