Libelium wins the 2015 National Award of Computer Science
The Spanish Society of Computer Science has given the award because of its career, improvements and internationalization in its ten years of life.
Libelium has received the 2015 National Award of Computer Science given by the Spanish Scientific Society of Computer Science (SCIE) in recognition of its career, growth and internationalization during its ten years of business activity.
The judge, who has awarded Libelium in “Ángela Ruiz Robles” category, has stood out the innovative capacity in the “Internet of Things” (IoT) area allowing any element of our surroundings to communicate through Internet. “The technological advances of the organization enable communication among any sensors with platforms in the cloud by the most suitable communication protocol for each client necessity”, quotes the judge’s minutes.
Libelium’s technology, based on wireless sensor networks, has more than a hundred applications among which are noted solutions for smart cities such as fire prevention systems, traffic management, water and air quality monitoring or noise, radiation and pollution control. Libelium exports IoT solutions to more than a hundred countries, which supposes that more than the 90% of its production goes to international markets.
Alicia Asín and David Gascón, founders of Libelium, are very glad with the recognition and have underlined the sustainable growth of the company that ended last year with an invoicing of 4.17 millions Euros. “Our expectation is to continue growing and opening new markets: that is why this year they are investing 1.8 million Euro”, affirm. In just ten years, Libelium’s workforce has risen from 3 to 73 employees with an annual employment increase of 30% with respect to 2015.
SCIE awards ceremony will take place on 14th September of 2016 during the Spanish Congress of Computer (CEDI) that will be held in Salamanca’s University.
