Libelium reinforces its industrial line launching new IIoT kits to automate controllers and meters

Libelium continues expanding its portfolio by creating new Industrial IoT (IIoT) kits for factory automation, automotive applications, industrial networking, building and infrastructure, transportation, energy applications and even military uses. The compatibility and interoperability of the industrial line of Waspmote bring innumerable possibilities for industrial applications. The new IIoT kits have been created in Waspmote OEM version, allowing their installation in any environment, with full flexibility for the user.

The new kits have been designed due to the rising demand of industrial related projects in the latest months. An important automotive company has recently deployed a 300-nodes network to control gas and electricity meters in their facilities to monitor consumptions. This project allows the tenants to turn their outdated meters into smart meters, improving their inner processes with a better and quicker information acquiring process. Read more.

Libelium hosted the third edition of its Annual IoT Conference. On the 21st and 22nd June 2018, the company welcomed more than 100 attendees from more than 20 countries of all continents to enjoy a great variety of conferences given by partners, customers and collaborators. The conference included several working sessions in which specialists showcased the latest IoT technology applications in two key areas: environmental sustainability and the urban environment. Participants discovered the most innovative projects in precision agriculture, intelligent water management, environmental monitoring of air quality, noise pollution and intelligent parking management.

The event program included the participation of international representatives of renowned multinational technology companies such as Ericsson, Vodafone, Arrow and Schreder, as well as others specialized in specific vertical solutions for improving productivity in vineyards, noise control in airports, water quality monitoring in Asian fish farms and the management of public parking spaces in shopping malls and cities. Libelium held the first edition of the Libelium IoT Awards on 22nd June as part of the annual IoT Conference. The aim of the Awards Ceremony was to highlight the commitment and alliance of some of Libelium’s partners for different reasons to jointly promote the IoT revolution.

In this first edition the awards had four categories to highlight the good practices of companies that are already experts in the development of projects with Libelium’s technology: most active distributor, best partner in the IoT Marketplace, best case study and best interoperability project. Libelium has launched a new exclusive certification program for selected members from its distribution channel that allows them to act as an Authorized Technical Service (ATS) in their geographical area. The five companies certificated in 2018 has been Intrinsic (India), M2M (Australia), SensorInsight (USA) and and the italian companies Sidea and Solpa.

The certification program has included an on line training course that the selected distributors have completed to obtain their certification seal as an ATS (Authorized Technical Service). “Our distributors have been equipped with the necessary knowledge to offer the same technical service to the customer as Libelium does in Spain,” explained Alicia Asín, Libelium CEO. Alicia Asín receives the 2nd Award at the EU Prize for Women Innovators

Alicia Asín, CEO and co-founder of Libelium, was awarded with the 2nd position of the EU Prize for Women Innovators given by the European Commission. This prize, awarded every year to European women who founded a successful company and brought an innovation to market, was given to Asín for her work powering the Internet of Things for more than 12 years.

The award ceremony took place on the 21st June 2018 at Politico’s Women Rule Summit in Brussels, presented by Carlos Moedas (European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, and Eva Kaili, European Parliament Member. Read more.

The prestigious magazine MIT Technology Review (Spanish edition), created under the auspices of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is launching a new section called ‘Innovators in Depth’, which will offer news on some of the winners of its international competition ‘Innovators Under 35′. “The goal is to follow the stories and evolution of these young innovators after they have won our award, Innovators Under 35,” explains Marta del Amo, editor-in-chief of MIT Technology Review in Spanish.

The first guest speaker of the new section is David Gascón, CTO of Libelium and one of the creators of the concept known today as Internet of Things, in which he started working more than 10 years ago. For his innovations, Gascón received the MIT Technology Review award in Spanish in the 2012 call for Innovators under 35 Spain.
