Hardware Modules
Meshlium is the world’s only multitech router combining the Wifi, ZigBee, GPRS, Bluetooth and GPS protocols in just one device. Its design is completely modular, meaning that it can be tailored to customers’ needs. This helps to optimise costs, save on power consumption and improve the performance of the required application.
GPRS
The GPRS module provides Internet access in zones without WiFi cover and can send alarms via SMS during particular events using mobile telephone networks. One single Meshlium with a GPRS module can offer Internet connection to the entire mesh network.
GPS
Meshlium with GPS makes it possible to obtain its exact location and to monitor the network it forms part of. In combination with the GPRS module, it facilitates real time position sending, a very useful fleet tracking tool.
Wifi
Meshlium is capable of combining three types of WiFi radio in order to build Mesh Networks operating on different frequencies (2.4GHz - 802.11b/g and 5GHz - 802.11a), or to serve as an Internet Access Point (AP) for users. Wifi is the most commonly used protocol for communication between mobile devices (laptops and PDAs) requiring Internet access. Find more information on Wifi radios and Mesh Networks.
Zigbee
With the ZigBee (802.15.4) radio it is possible to connect Meshlium to sensor networks formed by Waspmote, analyse the data obtained and send it over long distances using WiFi, GPRS or Ethernet. This is the communication protocol used in home automation (intelligent homes) and in wireless sensor networks.
Bluetooth
Through the Bluetooth protocol (802.15.1), Meshlium can interact with all sorts of mobile devices (laptops, telephones, PDAs, etc.) send messages at no cost and even gather information from network users. For proximity marketing applications, Libelium recommends N-vio, offering specialised campaign management software.
A versatile router
The IP-65 case for exteriors, the various combinable communication modules and different sources of power (electricity supply, solar panels and car lighters) make this adaptable router useful for any communications project.
