Plug&sense power dies quickly

Post by Happy_code » Wed Aug 14, 2019 10:39 am

Hello,

I have bought the smart water extreme L868.

We have compiled and uploaded code to the Plug&Sense successfully and it reads and sends data to the Meshlium correctly. However, it dies after couple of hours after the USB cable is unconnected from PC.

The first day, it dies after 8 hours running; the second day it dies out after 4 hours running.

The code is not heavy! it does: open 868, sensors, read sensors, close sensors, create frame, send frame, sleep (50000).

I am now confused: does plug & sense charge itself when it connects to my pc via USB? It seems some problem with the battery, I am highly concerned if the smart water extreme can be used in outdoor environments?

Thank you!

Best.

Hi,

The consumption of the node depends a lot of the code running on it and the sensors attached.

You should have to take care to turn off the communication modules and sensors after using them, also for example instead of using a delay you should use deepSleep function for a low consumption mode of the Waspmote.

You can get more information about how to use deepSleep function in the interruptions programming guide,
http://www.libelium.com/downloads/docum ... _guide.pdf

Also, you can check the example code,
http://www.libelium.com/development/was ... leep-mode/

To check if the node is recharging properly you can let the nodes turned off connected through the USB to an AC adapter and check the battery level with the example code,
http://www.libelium.com/development/was ... ery-level/

In any case please share with us your code and we will help you to improve it.

Regards.
