Dissolved Oxygen not reporting expected values

Post by michellefitz » Thu May 03, 2018 11:24 am

Hi,

we recently installed a smart water v12 with pH,conductivity, temperature and dissolved oxygen probes. The other probes seem to be reporting the correct values, but the dissolved oxygen started with value > 200% and has been steadily declining, currently sitting at approx 130% which is incorrect. I have 2 questions :
- why would the values continually decrease - should it not have stabilized ?
- on the outside of the probe there was cap, should this be removed when its being deployed ?

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

No, the cap shouldn't be removed. If you remove the cap the liquid inside the sensor will be spilled and therefore it won't work.

When was the last time you calibrate the sensor? Are you using the last API v031 to avoid bug fixed? (It's compatible with v12 devices).

Could you share the output though the serial monitor?

Finally, we recommend keeping the sensor into the calibration dissolution for some hours or even a day in the firsts uses of the sensor.

Hi,

Thanks for the response - I am a bit confused as looking at this post it recommends removing the cap :

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=13519

Currently the sensor has the cap on

I have been using API v023, - I will get some examples from the serial output and ost ater on,

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Sorry for the mistake, we referring to the cap with membrane. As is showed in the post you shared, you must remove the cap but not the second part (membrane).

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification on that - do you think this is why it could be reporting the incorrect values and decreasing all the time ?

Hi,

The values can be totally random if you don't remove the cap. Hope now the sensor works.
