Hi Libelium Team,

I have a problem with the UPGRADE.TXT file with OTA through Wi-Fi.
I don't know if I am doing well. I have made the UPGRADE file with WINHEX editor like this:

FILE: SKETCH_ PATH:/ SIZE:38562 VERSION:1

where the blank space is a 0A. In Hex is like:

46 49 4C 45 3A 53 4B 45 54 43 48 5F 0A 50 41 54 48 3A 2F 0A 53 49 5A 45 3A 33 38 35 36 32 0A 56 45 52 53 49 4F 4E 3A 31 0A

And then the Waspmote says at the USB out:

-E#
-RESTARTING
-Wifi switched ON
-WiFi module ready...
-Wifi module joined AP
-Error:error downloading UPGRADE.TXT

Using FIlezilla at the command log, the file seems to be downloaded with the user 'ota'.
FIlezilla command log:

-USER ota
-PASS ********
-Logged On
-CWD
-CWD successful
-TYPE I
-PASV
-Entering Passive Mode (192.168.102.114)
-RETR UPGRADE.TXT
-Connection Accepted
-Transfer OK
-Quit
-Goodbye
-disconnected

But the waspmote after the error message is displayed, it restarts again and do the same in an infinite loop.

Please a little help.

Thanks

Hi resident88,

You should be sure about the FTP connection first. You don't have to find a "error downloading" message, because that means something is not goind ok. Maybe you can use the open FTP server that Libelium provides in order to test our modules. The settings are attached below:

pruebas.libelium.com
user:w@libelium.com
pass:ftp1234
port:21

Hi Libelium Team,

Thanks for your reply. I have used the Libelium FTP "pruebas" but i got the same problem.
Also I have tried the FTP download example from this site to test the connection and that worked fine.
With the same network configuration and parameters, using the Libelium FTP site, the OTA example doesn't work. I get the same error on the USB debug display.

The files that I have copied are in the root directory of the FTP server ( UPGRADE.TXT, SKETCH_ and SKETCH_.hex).

Please your help. I will appreciate it.

Thank you.

Regards.

resident88,

what if you enable debug mode on wifi library to print some more info? Maybe we are missing anything. edit WaspWIFI.h at line 121 as follows:
//! DEBUG MODE //
#define DEBUG_WIFI ALL // Debug flag
#define QUIET 0 // No messages printed when wakes up or powers up.
#define ALL 1 // All status messages.
#define CRITICAL 2 // Only critical network AP connection level status

in this way, the internal communication between Wasp and the WIFI will be printed.

gjokop,

How did you do the file UPGRADE.TXT finally?

I have the same problem that sometimes it appears the error related to the dont download of the file or in other cases the error is related the bytes of the filename. I don't know what happens this.

I generated the file UPGRADE in a notepad. I would glad you so much if you tell me about your solution used.
Thanks

Hi,

Could you try with the files of the following link?
libelium_files/OTA_files.zip

What radio module are you using to perform OTA?

Regards
