Binary file in Waspmote IDE

Post by gam » Mon Jun 27, 2016 9:41 am

Hi,

Where can I find the sketchbook/OTA-FILES folder to see the binary file that is created by the Waspmote IDE?
If I go in the file menu of the Waspmote IDE to sketchbook, there isn't a menu popping up.

With kind regards,

Hi,

You should go into the folder where you create you sketchbook, inside you will see OTA-FILES folder. You can check the path of the scketchbook at the preferences of the IDE.

Hi,
Please allow me to ask my related question in this topic.

I'd like to setup my programs for OTA (GPRS), but I can't find the compiled binary files. I could find binary files in my OTA-FILES folder when I was using Waspmote Pro IDE v04. It seems no binary files have been created in this folder since I switched to Waspmote Pro IDE v05.

The IDE's preference.txt file defines

Code: Select all

sketchbook.path=C:\Users\Koki\Documents\Waspmote
and the OTA-FILES folder is under this Waspmote folder. I wonder if I can find binary files at somewhere else, or there are any other setup files to tweak.

Please help me.

Hi,

There is a specific option in the Waspmote IDE v05 that permits to generate the necessary binary file for OTA in: “Sketch” -> “Export binary to OTA file”. When this option is chosen, the program is compiled and the binary file is generated inside /sketchbook/OTA-FILES folder.

Hi,

Thank you. I should have gone through all the functions through the menu bar.

Now when I run the "Export Binary to OTA file" function, the following message appears on the IDE.

Code: Select all

processing.app.debug.RunnerException
	at cc.arduino.Compiler.saveHex(Compiler.java:460)
	at cc.arduino.Compiler.saveHex(Compiler.java:370)
	at cc.arduino.Compiler.build(Compiler.java:154)
	at processing.app.Sketch.build(Sketch.java:1119)
	at processing.app.Sketch.build(Sketch.java:1089)
	at processing.app.Editor$BuildHandler.run(Editor.java:1989)
	at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)
Caused by: java.nio.file.FileSystemException: C:\Users\Koki\Documents\Waspmote\ClearSD\ClearSD.pde.hex: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

	at sun.nio.fs.WindowsException.translateToIOException(WindowsException.java:86)
	at sun.nio.fs.WindowsException.rethrowAsIOException(WindowsException.java:97)
	at sun.nio.fs.WindowsException.rethrowAsIOException(WindowsException.java:102)
	at sun.nio.fs.WindowsFileCopy.copy(WindowsFileCopy.java:165)

	at java.nio.file.Files.copy(Files.java:1274)
	at cc.arduino.Compiler.saveHex(Compiler.java:396)
	... 6 more
The corresponding binary and hex files are now made in the OTA-FILES folder. I will anyhow try OTA with the created binary file, even though I'm not sure whether the build was successful or not because of above message. I will appreciate if you can provide me with any comments on this.

Hi,

Sorry we forgot to say that there was a bug in the IDE for Windows. Please use the IDE v06, this bug was fixed.

OK, the IDE v06 compiled my code without the previous message. Now I can play with the OTA setups.
Thank you for your quick replies.
