3G/GPRS and fixed line internet routing

Dear libelium

We are using a meshlium with 3G connection.
Sometimes we want to use 3G as backup, in case of fixed internet is available.
Do you have a example how to setup the network in the meshlium to make it possible to switch over automatically to the PPP0 connection in case of problems with eth0 interface? (and back)
A second problem is that now the 3G connection is always the default gateway, so by default the meshlium is sending the data though 3G after bootup, but if eth0 is up we want to use eth0 . How do you change that?

Hello dirkbac,

You can change the Meshlium route table by entering via ssh to Meshlium.
If you type route you will see the IP routes:

meshlium:~# route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination     Gateway         Genmask         Flags Metric Ref    Use Iface
192.168.1.0     *               255.255.255.0   U     0      0        0 eth0
10.10.10.0      *               255.255.255.0   U     0      0        0 ath0
default         192.168.1.1     0.0.0.0         UG    0      0        0 eth0
In this case, the default route to Internet would be with eth0 interface.
To change the default gateways, type

$ route add default gw desired_IP desired_Interface
$ route del default gw 192.168.1.1 eth0
