3G vs fixed internet

Post by dirkbac » Wed Jul 23, 2014 3:32 pm

We use the meshlium with 3g.
This works fine. Some times a costumor of us has a fixed internet connection available.
In this case we will use both, 3g as backup and the fixed internet as main connection.

For changing the route table we use the ifplugd tool witch is working very well.
Now i have the problem that one costumer has a IPv6 connection. ifplugd fails with this.

Do you know a tool that change the default gateway to the eth0 port when its pluged in even with ipv6 ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi dirkbac,

The basic tool "route" is IPv6 compatible. You can use it to add or change default route and create new routes for addresses and networks.

You can do a script that checked the connection every certain time and change the routes if needed. This is a bit more manual process, but it will work with IPv6.

Hopes this helps you.
Best regards,
