Communication channels with the waspmote plug and sense

Post by amolina » Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:48 pm

We are communicating 11 waspmote plug and sense with a meshlium. Right now we don´t receive data from the 3 sensors farthest from the meshlium. We have the meshlium in a closed room and the waspmote distributed by a factory. The farthest are just over 500 meters but there are walls and obstacles. Could different channels for waspmote be used so that the closest ones don´t interfere with the farthest ones?

Hi,

Walls, obstacles or surrounding buildings affect the RF range, as you say. Changing the channel may improve the signal range, but it would be better if the nodes (or gateway) are placed in near places or higher heights from the ground.

Also, take care of the antenna. It should be in a vertical position to maximize the horizontal range.

Thank you. How are they programmed so that the signal of each one goes through a different channel?

Hi,

Do you program then does using the PCS? You can configure the channels used in Meshlium and nodes as is shown in the following documentation

Our problem is that we have 11 waspmote plug & sense distributed in our factory and a meshlium that receives all the information. But it only receives information from the closest ones, although the distant ones are not more than 400 meters away. So we think it is a matter of obstacles. We would like to know if there is any guide or map of what would be an ideal distribution. We also want to know if each of the 11 waspmote can be configured to use a different channel.

Hi,

Are the antennas set to each node and Meshlium?

You can configure the channel of each node through the Channel Mask field of the PCS. You can enable all channels in Meshlium and then configure just a few ones in each node.
