Libelium’s sensor lines -Waspmote and Plug & Sense!- has been the world’s first hardware devices to pass automatically the LoRa Alliance’s “LoRaWAN Certification Program”. The module RN2483, integrated in Waspmote, has been the world’s first passing the validation controls to get the new LoRaWAN certification.
Microchip, the Libelium provider of microcontrollers, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, has obtained the accreditation after test laboratory to meet the functional requirements of the latest LoRaWAN 1.0 protocol specification, for operation in the 868 MHz license-free band.
The LoRaWAN standard enables low-data-rate Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) wireless communication with a range of up to 10 miles, a battery life of 10 years, and the ability to connect millions of wireless sensor nodes to LoRaWAN gateways.
The US version of the new Microchip module, named RN2903, for operation in 915 MHz band, will be released to the market in the following months and will also pass the official certifications by the LoRa Alliance.
