Waspmote to prevent Forest Fires

Fires, both man-made and natural, contribute to forest loss. Last week more than 100 Forest Fires broke out in the eastern part of Russia’s Siberia, affecting more than 57,000 hectares of land. Waspmote can be used to monitor different environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, CO, CO2 and many other gases. The monitoring of these parameters can be used to determine the areas where a forest fire is more likely to break out.

Australian researchers from Edith Cowan University’s Centre for Communications Engineering Research have used Waspmote to test Wireless Sensor Networks for detecting and preventing Forest Fires in the future
