Libelium joins Gaia-X

Libelium has joint as a new member of the international association Gaia-X AISBL, the highest European body promoting the creation of a federated and sovereign data infrastructure. With this adhesion, Libelium takes another step in its commitment to building the future of the data economy in Europe.

Gaia-X is a strategic initiative that seeks to develop a federated, open, and secure data infrastructure to guarantee European digital sovereignty. Its objective is to enable companies, administrations, and citizens to share and access data in a trusted environment and under European regulations, fostering innovation without depending on non-EU technology providers. To carry out its mission, Gaia-X is organized through a network of national hubs that act as a point of contact in each member country.

From Vision to Execution of the European Data Strategy

Libelium’s incorporation into the international association brings deep knowledge in the application of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital twins to generate a positive impact.

Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X, has welcomed the company: “Libelium will be a true asset to the Gaia-X community. Its innovative approach is transforming companies and cities to be more sustainable and resilient. Their knowledge will bring a new perspective to our community, and we look forward to their contribution.”

For her part, Alicia Asín, CEO and co-founder of Libelium, highlighted the strategic importance of this alliance: “Europe must decide whether, in the data economy, it wants to be the architect of its own future or simply a tenant in a building designed by others. Gaia-X is our opportunity to pick up the pencil and start drawing the blueprint. We need to move from vision to execution. And at Libelium, that has always been our specialty: transforming ideas into a reality that works. We are here to build.”

Libelium, on the Board of Directors of the Spanish hub

The adhesion to the international association reinforces the commitment that Libelium already demonstrated at the national level. In fact, since this summer, the company has been part of the board of directors of the Gaia-X Spain hub, where Antonio J. Jara, Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer of Libelium, acts as the main evangelist to promote the adoption of these data sovereignty standards in the Spanish business and institutional ecosystem.
