We have reached a historic milestone! At Libelium, an international reference in IoT and Digital Twins, we have celebrated our twentieth anniversary within the framework of our annual convention Beyond The Challenge (BTC) 2026.
The event, which took place in our beloved Granada, not only served to commemorate two decades of history but also to consolidate a business model that has led us to close the 2025 financial year with a record turnover of 11.8 million euros, a spectacular growth of 40% compared to the previous year. A success for the entire team!
Two intense days in Granada
The celebration of Libelium’s 20th anniversary is not just a corporate event; it is the gathering of a team that has been transforming technology for two decades.
Monday, February 23: Between history and strategy
The day began with a wonderful visit to the Alhambra, a moment we thoroughly enjoyed. We divided into groups to explore the monument in the best possible way, accompanied by guides who made the experience even more special.
In the afternoon, we experienced the most strategic day, an open day where we had the pleasure of having the assistance of various institutions and politicians. With the sunset at the beautiful Carmen de los Mártires, we warmly welcomed María González Veracruz, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, who agreed to be the godmother of our 20th anniversary.
The event was opened by our CEO, Alicia Asín, who shared the new strategic plan Alhambra29. This plan takes advantage of the company’s growth momentum with the goal of continuing to grow together.
This new strategic plan follows the path started in 2021 and reinforced with the acquisition of HOPU in 2022, a strategy that has allowed us to position ourselves in high-value sectors.
She was followed by our CTO, Antonio J. Jara, sharing his inspiring vision for the future, supported by technological innovation. Our iris360 platform is now at the center of this proposal, with the aim of facilitating the transition for companies and public administrations towards smart and sustainable cities through actionable data and environmental digital twins. We closed the day with the panel discussion dedicated to the Alhambra digitization project, which unites our technical purpose with the marvelous historical setting surrounding us. We had the great honor of having a luxurious representation on this panel: González Veracruz, head of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (the institution that co-financed the digital twin within the framework of the RETECH program of the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan); Rafael Mata, Project Manager of the Alhambra Living Lab of the Digital Agency of Andalusia, the project’s promoter through its technical office Sandetel; and Rodrigo Ruiz-Jiménez, director of the Alhambra and Generalife Board of Trustees.
Vito Episcopo, Deputy Mayor of Granada City Council, provided a perfect close to the day with a warm speech that welcomed us to his city. We felt right at home. The day culminated with the elegance a special anniversary deserved. After a brief time to put on our cocktail attire, we gathered at the Santa Paula convent for an unforgettable gala dinner, where we celebrated the achievements we have reached together and toasted with enthusiasm to all that is to come.
Tuesday, February 24: Talent, innovation, and team
The second day focused on our most valuable asset: our people. After a morning of personal reflection and sport (necessary to recharge batteries!), we resumed the agenda with presentations focused on investing in people and our company’s new value proposition, led by our CFO, Raquel Pelegrín, and our CRO, Nacho Carnero.
One of the most emotional moments came with our panel discussion “Libelium v1 vs. Libelium v20: A 20-year journey,” a retrospective look we shared with colleagues from different departments and generations. It was a genuine journey through the most fun memories of our history, those that have brought us to be who we are today.
We know we can change to reach the goals we set, but there is something that remains intact at Libelium: our DNA, based on camaraderie, kindness, and a shared vision of using technology to build a better world. It’s what defines us!
In the afternoon, we divided into groups again for an exciting scavenger hunt (gymkhana) that took us to the highest point of the Albaicín. A fun and inspiring way to experience Granada! At the Aixa restaurant, we continued the celebration, this time in a more informal and close environment.
There we warmly congratulated the colleagues who joined the club of 10 (half a lifetime with us!) and applauded the winners of our innovation contest, Pau Miras and David Fernández. Their ideas will help us improve our solutions and internal processes.
Commitment to the future and sustainability
We face our third decade of life with unprecedented financial and technological strength. We have demonstrated that our seniority in the technology sector is not synonymous with obsolescence, but with experience, reliability, and, above all, passion.
With more than 2 million euros awarded in European Data Spaces projects and a consolidated international presence, we reaffirm our mission: to use data as the universal language to improve the management of the planet’s resources and create a positive impact on society. We continue working with the same commitment as always!
