Vertical: Smart Cities

Smart City project in Serbia for environmental monitoring by Public Transportation

The EkoBus system was developed in collaboration with Ericsson and deployed in the cities of Belgrade and Pancevo. Several Waspmotes were installed on public transportation vehicles to monitor a set of environmental parameters over a large area as well as to provide additional information for the end-user like the location of the buses and estimated arrival times to bus stops. The GPS and 3G/GPRS modules allowed the Waspmotes to work as autonomous sensor collectors.

Smart City project in Salamanca to monitor Air Quality and Urban Traffic

This project has been developed by several companies and leaded by “Fundación CARTIF”. Its main goal was to achieve sustainable management of the traffic in the city of Salamanca by using two key-elements: a pervasive air-quality sensor network along with prediction models. The project required the measurement of 7 parameters: CO, NO2, O3, temperature, humidity, dust particles (PM-10) and noise. The flexibility of Waspmote allowed to integrate all of them in the same sensor node, making the most of each point of the the network deployed.

Smart Cities platform from Libelium allows system integrators to monitor noise, pollution, structural health and waste management

Libelium, a technology leader in wireless sensor networks, announces the completion of its Smart Cities platform. A new sensor board measures noise pollution, dust quantities, structural health and garbage levels.

This board may be combined in a network with previously available sensor boards - for <a href=https://www.libelium.com/calibrated-air-quality-gas-dust-particle-matter-pm10-smart-cities/">gas monitoring, radiation detection and Smart Parking. System integrators can now create a comprehensive range of services based on the Smart Cities platform.

Monitoring indoor air quality with Waspmote to prevent accidents and improve production processes

Monitoring indoor air quality with Waspmote to prevent accidents and improve production processes

Many production processes in industry, agriculture, viticulture and livestock require specific environmental conditions to be monitored at all times. Sometimes the process can generate air pollutants that can be harmful and even deadly to workers in certain concentrations. The fact of having a monitoring system with Waspmote allows to control the parameters of a production process, send alerts via GPRS and even activate mechanisms through the relay actuator included in the prototype board.
