OECD Global Forum on Agriculture 2018: 14 – 15 May 2018, Paris, FR

Javier Gabás, Smart Water Sales Area Manager for Asia-Pacific and Africa, will be present at the OECD Global Forum on Agriculture 2018 which will be celebrated in Paris next 14th and 15th May 2018.

This Global Forum on Agriculture aims to contribute to this priority by developing a better understanding of how digitalisation is changing the food and agriculture system and the implications for policy. In particular, it will provide an opportunity to discuss recent developments in the sector, to improve understanding of challenges, risks and opportunities, to explore the role of governments in enabling beneficial changes, and to outline ways in which digitalisation can improve policy design and implementation.

Javier Gabás will take part of the “Providing digital hard and soft infrastructure” round table, Monday 14th May 2018, 16:00-18:00. What is the role of government versus the private sector in the provision of digital infrastructure? Do existing regulations related to ‘soft’ infrastructure need to be adapted, or new approaches developed, that are specific to the agriculture sector in areas such as: privacy, data ownership, quality, security and integrity, interoperability between machines, data storage or restrictions on data flows (data localisation), access, and commercial use of public data?
